New SPHM App and Algorithms from VHA

VHA redeveloped its SPHM algorithms in 2014 in order to include them in a new SPHM app. Changes to the algorithms will be discussed, and the app will be introduced. The app will be available to the public on the VA App Store and is also expected to be released through Apple and Android app stores.
On completion of this training program, participants will be able to:

• Describe the rationale, history and evidence behind the VHA Safe Patient Handling algorithms.
• Recognize changes made in 2014 to the VHA Safe Patient Handling and Mobility algorithms.
• Describe how the VHA SPHM app can be used to help caregivers use VHA SPHM Algorithms and other SPHM resources.
