Overview

In this webinar, we will discuss the need, the barriers and the considerations for optimizing SPHM in the home setting. We will include documentation, transportation, insurance coverage and patient / caregiver considerations.

We will walk through a few case studies and define problems, solutions and gaps.

  2. By the end of this presentation, learners will be able to identify an outline for effective home evaluation for SPHM
  3. By the end of this presentation, learners will be able to describe 3 solutions to overcome barriers to caregiver and patient training for SPHM at home

Meet the Speaker

Margaret has over 30 years’ experience as a physical therapist and has been an international leader in integrating the fields of safe patient handling and early mobility for the past 15 years.  She is a well-known expert both nationally and internationally and has published extensively on both topics. Margaret is a member of the ASPHP education committee and launched the curriculum task force, whose aim is to get SPHM content into all graduate schools of PT, OT, Nursing, Radiology and Medicine.  She is past board of director for ASPHP and editorial advisor on early mobility for the International Journal of Safe Patient Handling and Mobility.

Margaret is CEO of earlymobility.com, a consulting and education company and president and founder of Inspire Outcomes, under which she developed, patented and now sells and educates on a multi-use mobility harness. Driven by her faith and mission, Margaret’s greatest passion is taking the scientific evidence, and helping all those with solutions to bring to the table, to make a difference for those who are suffering and in pain, whether that be the patient or the nurse or therapist caring for them. Whether the solution is a best-practice clinical intervention, a new product or a new process to improve the care for the patient, Margaret believes by collaborating and working together, we can make the biggest difference.
