November 20th, 2024 – ASPHP Webinar: Why a Mobility Assessment/Screen is Foundational to Safe Mobility including Fall Prevention

[FREE to Members] Presented and recorded live November 20th, 2024 from 2 PM – 3 PM Eastern

Overview

There are several mobility assessment tools that are being widely used in the healthcare setting. Implementing this can be challenging because it requires a significant shift in thinking on behalf of all stakeholders. A key barrier that needs to be overcome is that all stakeholders understand the genuine value of a mobility assessment and link it to fall prevention, caregiver safety and early mobility. This session will enable participants to successfully define THE WHYs of any hands-on Mobility Screening, Assessment, or Tool.

Objectives – After this session, participants will be able to:

  • Learner will understand the term Safe Mobility to ensure we provide quality care to all patients while protecting our caregivers.
  • Learner will understand why a mobility assessment is an ergonomic assessment of a patient mobility task.
  • Learner will understand why a mobility assessment for nurses and screen for support staff is foundational to sustain a Safe Mobility Program.
  • Learner will learn how to integrate mobility and fall screenings and how this unlocks a greater understanding of how to safely mobilize our patients.
  • Learner will be introduced to complimentary tools for the ambulatory care setting to support this throughout the continuum of care.
