Occupational Safety and Health Nurse Consultant

Job Description:

With her theories on how environment can impact a patient’s health and recovery, Florence Nightingale is widely recognized as having helped shape modern healthcare practices. In fact, much of what SAIF’s industrial hygiene and health team does for our customers aligns with her ideas that improving the sanitation and hygiene in workplaces can help workers stay healthy and prevent injuries.

While being a nurse in SAIF’s safety and health division doesn’t mean you’ll be offering direct medical care to patients like Florence, it does mean you get to use your expertise, problem solving skills, relationship building skills and passion for helping people, particularly healthcare workers, who are at risk of getting hurt on the job.

As our new occupational health nurse consultant, you’ll be a champion for healthcare workers. You’ll train and mentor others and consult on assessing and mitigating risks in healthcare settings. You’ll help tackle some of the toughest issues facing the industry, including workplace aggression and violence, burnout, stress, and safe patient handling.

If you’re a board certified occupational health nurse with 5-10 years’ experience and want to pioneer solutions that would make Florence Nightingale proud, consider applying as our occupational health nurse consultant.

  • Designation as a Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) or Certified Occupational Health Specialist (COHN-S) by the American Board of Occupational Health Nurses (ABOHN). A master’s degree in nursing, public health or occupational safety and health can be substituted for the initial requirements of a COHN or COHN-S if certification is obtained within one year of hire.

  • Five or more years of progressively responsible work experience in healthcare or healthcare consulting with demonstrated skills in relationship building, risk assessment, complex problem solving, strategic thinking, small/large group presentations and leveraging technology.
