Certification Program Committees

The Certification Committee is a standing committee of the ASPHP’s Board of Directors and is responsible for all policies, procedures and issues governing and affecting the Certification Program.  This committee has an infrastructure that allows it to appropriately and comprehensively discharge its responsibilities independently from the corresponding governance of the Association.

Executive Team: 

  • Provide guidance and leadership to the Certification Program, including fiscal, marketing and other programmatic elements
  • Determine and develop policies and procedures required for professional, cost-effective program functioning
  • Work with all committee members, advisors, and the ASPHP Executive Director to meet all standards for Accreditation status

Exam Committee:

  • Develop and maintain certification examinations in accordance with acceptable procedures and best-practice standards, including periodic reviews for content applicability and validity
  • Determine and develop policies and procedures required for professional, cost-effective, consumer-friendly examination administration
  • Update examination questions as required by current best-practice standards and research findings

Certification and Renewal Committee:

  • Review and evaluate all applicant portfolios
  • Review and evaluate all certificant renewals
  • Maintain and improve all processes and tools available to applicants/certificants (e.g. applications, Handbook, professional development, audit)
  • Mentor potential applicants and oversee the Mentor Program
  • Promote certification in collaboration with the Marketing Committee
